Why April 2nd Should Be a National Holiday

April 2 is, aside from being the day after April Fool's Day,
historically significant. In so many, many ways:

on April 2, 999 Gerbert of Aurillac was elected as the 1st French Pope!
in 1416, Alfonso V succeeds his father as king of Aragon!!

That WE should stride the earth shoulder to shoulder with GIANTS like Buddy Epstein; a fortuitous accident? I think not. Magnificence and mysterious providence…yes, yes absolutely. A “national holiday”? Your modesty is commendable but unsuitable. I think a worldwide jubilee, on the same order as the Olympic Celebrations…but bigger, may best commemorate our birthday. Good lord, think of the presents.
